Rapid City’s School System and Taxes

This is my dad’s letter, completely rewritten and edited by myself. It is the essence of my dad’s ideas, and although rewritten, is an expression of his creation, bear in mind; I am too young to be married and have children. We intended to submit this to the Rapid City Journal (I would under my own name, if necessary), but we never did.

I feel obligated to comment that upon further research, the “funding” to the schools has actually increased since the time given below, but the actual funding to the school has not decreased; if you separate the school’s regular funds from No Child Left Behind’s mandatory funds, you’ll find that funding to the rest of the school has gone down. This is not necessary to know–just bear in mind by allowing No Child Left Behind to be passed and to allow it to remain in effect precludes additions to tax money to schools–the regular funding does not deserve to be decreased.
